I've read this book and I agree with the comments at Amazon - it really is a quite brilliant book. There is something about the book's tone that captures the imagination. It avoids hyperbole and instead, because the focus is on the details of what happened, you get drawn into the extraordinary adventure that these men experienced. This book makes it clear that what these men achieved is right at the very limits of human experience and achievement.
